“Randomized olfactory tests to rank samples from no smell to extremely strong smell.”
Fecal samples can offer insight into the gut microbiome and various diseases. Unfortunately, fecal samples can emit a strong and unpleasantly foul odor, which may be challenging to work with.
Mawi DNA Technologies conducted a study to validate the effectiveness of iSWAB-Microbiome (iSWAB-MB) in reducing foul odors associated with fecal samples.
The fecal samples collected within iSWAB-MB device were compared to fecal samples mixed with PBS buffer. Randomized olfactory tests were run to rank samples from no smell to extremely strong smell.
The iSWAB-MB was chosen for this experiment because it is designed to effectively preserve nucleic acids found in fecal samples, at ambient temperature, mitigating the associated odor and preventing a bloom effect resulting in a more pleasant and convenient working experience.
Do the results show iSWAB-MB device significantly reduces the foul odor of fecal samples? Read the Study attached below.
