Non-Invasive collection methods including oral swabs, nasal swabs and hair pulls, are well-established methods to collect DNA from animals, but samples obtained from these procedures are tedious and require a time-consuming lab process. High bacterial content can potentially compromise the integrity of the sample, resulting in low sample output and suboptimal DNA quality for downstream applications. This can become a major issue when precious samples collected from a rare breed or exotic animal return from the lab with failed results and essentially no options for resampling. The iSWAB® Proprietary technology ensures <3% bacterial genomic DNA contamination and it’s swab-free sample transport reduces sample processing time and cost without compromising sample integrity.

Product Description

The iSWAB®-ANML device is a non-invasive collection system that maintains the integrity of the DNA at the point of collection for samples collected in the field. The swab used for collection is discarded after collection which has shown to significantly reduce processing time, effort, and costs. The iSWAB®-ANML is designed to be non-toxic and non-hazardous to enable safe and humane sample collection. The iSWAB® device allows samples to be stored at room temperature for over 3 years and can yield 2-7 µg of double stranded stranded, long fragment DNA ideal for genotyping, microarray, or NGS.

Intended Use

iSWAB®-ANML Collection Kit is a DNA sample collection device for the collection, stabilization, concentration, storage, and transport of animal DNA samples. It is a non-invasive swab-based sampling applicator for the collection of DNA from various sample types, including oral, nasal, and rectal. iSWAB®-ANML maintains the integrity of DNA at the point of collection for samples collected in the field. iSWAB®-ANML collection kit for animals can capture samples producing high yields of double-stranded, long fragmented DNA between 2-7μg (iSWAB®-ANML) with <3% bacterial contamination. Intended for speciation, hereditary traits, diseases, DNA banking, parentage, and breed identification. The iSWAB®-ANML is scalable and easily integrated in manual and automative sample processes.

Storage and Stability

Pre-collection: 3 years from date of manufacture between 15-30° C.
Transport temperature, post-collection: 15-30° C.
Sample stability and storage, post-collection: 60 days real-time and 3 years accelerated time. If longer storage time is required, collected samples can be stored at -20 to -80° C.
